Review on πŸ‘– Columbia Women's Anytime Outdoor Boot Cut Pant: Stylish Comfort for Your Adventure by Patrick Burns

Great travel pants! Long length, essential hem, waterproof, stylish, comfortable and very flexible. Love.

I call these airplane pants. We recently had a wonderful trip home to Nova Scotia. It's summer now, I don't really need warm warm jeans, but thought something thin and flexible for a long flight would be nice. I wanted something light, dark to hide stains, flexible, and something that could stand up to hiking through the woods in the Canadian countryside. It was perfect! Remember this was after I hemmed them. I'm not sure who these long pants were made for, ladies giants? I had to cut a good 4 inch length and hemmed them before they were the perfect length for my foot. It's ok but if you're short on time you need a travel specific pant like me, think about the extra length. I'm 5ft 6" so I consider them to be average height and found them to be very long. I will post pictures of what I cut and what the final length was. The material is really light and stretches very well. Stretch means when hemming your seams you need a proper stretch stitch so your stitches don't tear. I spent some time searching Google for hemming options and familiarizing myself with my sewing machine's stretch stitch setting before getting started. I was a little nervous about cutting my stitches. brand new pants but i took my time and ironed them, pinned them up, took lots of precautions and they turned out perfect. Can't even tell it's not a factory hem unless you go down to ankle height and look closely Pants They're so light and rolled into such a small ball of fabric that I've oddly weighed them! They weigh as much as a pair of my most worn/favorite cotton cargo shorts. almost not taken. As I mentioned, although this is the first time I've worn them on a plane, it was a night flight and I wanted maximum comfort. I felt really good. My only complaint. WHY DON'T MANUFACTURERS GIVE WOMEN DECENT BAGS? Serious. That's stupid. Throw in deep pockets and let's decide whether to stuff them and add pack mule-like bulges at the hips. When I'm out, I don't care if my phone is sticking out in my front pockets, a wad of tissues, or cough drops. I just wish I could wear these things. Women's trouser pockets are notoriously short and I find that offensive. I bought my husband a pair of Columbia hiking pants at the same time as mine, and of course they had great, comfy pockets. Use and comfort, and seems to be just an annoying clothing trend. But Colombia. You'd impress me if you changed that outdated habit of short, useless pockets on future pants. I read about these pants before buying so I knew they were waterproof but WOW. They are VERY waterproof. For example, if you take a handful of water and splash it on your foot (again, this geek is testing), the water will just bead up. Of course, if you submerge the material in water, it will get wet, but with spills, splashes, light rain, the water will literally bead up. When we were outside in a light rain, I just turned them over on the way inside and shook off the water droplets. They also dry out pretty quickly. We had access to a washer and dryer on our trip, but I suspect these would have been clothes that could be hand washed, wrung and air dried in the sink. I'll try somehow. The first time I dried them I was careful, keeping an eye on them and checking them every few minutes. I think with these modern stuff, they either go crazy and sit down or do something weird, or they're the superstars of modern space age marvels, they're modern marvels. I followed the directions, cool water, gentle drying cycle (no high heat). Well washed. They may wrinkle a little so they look better when folded or hung straight from the dryer. However, I have found that wrinkles smooth out after wearing or rehanging, no big deal. We were in a humid environment, east coast summers were so wet we didn't need long pants all the time and I found them a bit stuffy after the sun came up. Not big just so you know they aren't as cool as shorts although they are lightweight etc. They look like dress pants. It's actually very cool. You look like I'm "dressing up" instead of hiking down the trail or hiking through the woods. I got a lot of compliments on them wearing a nice white t-shirt with them and I was giggling internally because I was wearing camping clothes. Considered "plus size". These pants are great for my hips, legs etc. In fact, for the first time in a long time I've thought about going down a size. They were actually a little loose for me, but I wanted maximum comfort, not maximum style, so loose sounded good for long distances. It would be nice to have this thinner option. I found the pants to be even looser and a little stretched after wearing them all day. but contract again after washing. They have a VERY COMFORTABLE drawstring waist and zip and clasp closure. I saw someone mention that lightning bolts wear off. THANKS to those who have ever commented on this. I was wearing black travel briefs as a precaution and halfway through the airport I realized it was a bit chilly and lo and behold my zipper was unzipped. e. not cool. well, it was cool, but not "cool". the same. It's only happened once, but once was enough for me to check from time to time ;) I noticed cat hair was stuck to it, just remembered. But I didn't have a dryer where we stayed so maybe drying them with that wasn't a problem. Hmm, I'll try that again. I was visiting my mom who had a very awful place to sit and when I got up I realized I had taken half the cat fur ha ha ha. Let's see. That's all I can think of at the moment. These are really great pants and my minor complaints are that they are insignificant and not worthy of being called a star. Their unparalleled comfort and stretch allows me to do everything from deep squats to mountain hikes to sitting in an airplane seat for long periods - that's what I wanted and they excelled there. They met all my needs and I hope they last. I will be doing a long term update in 6 months or a year or so.
