I installed them near my apartment. Since there is no external power outlet in front of my device, I used a USB connection along with a 2 USB output adapter that I purchased separately. As you can see from the photo, they do their job perfectly. I think the wiring could be a bit thicker, but the USB or battery power is low enough that I don't think that would be an issue. These aren't the brightest lights you'll ever see, but part of that would otherwise be power requirements that would prohibit using the USB port or drain the battery too quickly. If you use them at sunset or after sunset they should work just fine. The included remote control is easy to understand and works well when standing a few feet away. they can cause seizures or difficulties in people with epilepsy. As stated in the description and other reviews, do not use the USB port when there are batteries in the battery compartment.
