Here is a summary of my experience with this thermometer. It's well built, easily fits in your pocket. The thermometer turns on automatically when you unfold the probe and turns off when you fold the probe back in. (Smart Design) The back is magnetic, so you can easily attach it to the metal part of the grill during grilling, and it's ready to use. The backlight button is easy to press in low light conditions. The probe is VERY sharp and easily stuck into beef, fish, etc. Temperature readings are almost instantaneous. No more than 1-2 seconds for a good read. It comes in a 2-pack and comes with 2 spare batteries in a separate box. I hope it lasts, but so far I'm VERY happy with this handy device.
