This was my first serious headphone purchase. Before these headphones, I bought $20 bluetooth headphones that hurt my ears or $5 headphones at destination. It's been a year since I bought these and I can honestly say these are the best headphones I've ever tried. I tested Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless Noise Canceling Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) Headphones - Black or Sennheiser PXC 550. Both headphones have been in stores and checked out the reviews and I thought they were the right ones until I found out about them. I'm definitely a bassist. I listen to a lot of rock and rap so bass is very important to me and I love the adjustable bass control on the back. You can literally feel the bass, which is probably my favorite thing about these headphones. This was my only pair of headphones in my freshman year. I carried her on a two hour drive to school and a two hour drive back, not to mention the hours at the library. I BROKE these headphones and they still pack a punch. Their sound is very bass-heavy, so you lose some quality in the high frequencies, but you won't notice this unless you listen to a lot of this type of music. Another thing I like is that they also exceed the volume set on your device using the controls on the headpiece. I can listen to music at full volume and feel no pain at all which is nice and I like that they are loud. The wireless connection is very impressive. I can walk anywhere in my house with very little disruption. Also, the headphones are very heavy and durable, which I like about them. I really felt the quality of these headphones. The ear pads are very comfortable and the headband is made of very soft silicone which really balances the weight. I literally spent 12 hours in these headphones during the finale and throughout that time I didn't feel uncomfortable. They're made of hard plastic and come in matte black or white (I chose black). They're very stylish and don't stick out like other bass-heavy headphones like the Sony XB. The markings are almost invisible and sit quite snugly on your head so you don't look weird. I have 2 problems with these headphones. First, they don't have noise cancellation, which isn't really a problem as they're pretty loud, but I'd like that option. Another related issue is that there's a good amount of sound bleeding. People sitting next to you can hear what you're hearing, which isn't a problem, but if privacy is important to you, keep that in mind. 3 year update I have been using these headphones as a daily driver for the past 3 years. Numerous vacations, a 2 hour daily commute to school, a summer internship and more and it's still struggling. I didn't notice any noise reduction. All I've seen so far is that the earbud loop has unfortunately started to fall apart. It didn't affect usability much, but it's annoying as it looks like it's about to fall apart. That being said, I don't trust other headphones to reproduce the sound and feel I get from these headphones. My next pair of headphones will most likely be another pair of Crushers wireless headphones.
