Review on Enhanced Performance Lincoln II Plus 10/12 Meter Ham Radio by John Rocha

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great radio at a great price!

I bought this radio as an incentive to get back on the air after a 20 year hiatus. I had packed HR2600 all along but it stopped working so I decided to replace it with this one. I don't like all this programming but I'm glad it at least has normal volume, noise canceling output, mic gain and RF gain. I am sure many people will buy this radio for the ease of converting to CB but I would not recommend it as it is illegal to work on CB and also voids the warranty. The RF output is as advertised when connected to a dummy load as well as my 35 year old collinear ground antenna. There's a rotary control that can be used as a VFO, and up and down buttons on the mic to change the frequency. The noise canceler is effective. The internal speaker is effective in a relatively quiet environment, and an external speaker can be connected if desired. I've had good reports of transmitted audio and the reception sensitivity is also very good. For the most part, the detailed manual is pretty straightforward, but I'm still trying to figure out how to set the PL tone and offset for the FM repeater. I used this radio as a 1D station during a field day in 2020 and if I could hear them I could mostly work with this radio. Of course, range conditions will determine what results you get. I would not recommend purchasing this radio for use with the Citizen Band (CB). If you want to be on CB, buy a standard CB radio (for a lot less money) and obey the law.

Cons
  • Ugly packaging
