My horse has become more prone to girth galls as he ages (I checked the fit of the saddle and tried different girths and girths - leather, sheepskin, sheepskin without tightening it as tight as it should. ). He usually wears a size 48 inch so I ordered this one. My only complaint is that it is difficult to put on. Others note that it runs small. What I noticed is that the elastic is shorter than many other straps I've used and also very strong. So it's difficult to stretch the elastic to secure the strap, but once it's on it's great. Since I've used it, no more galls! I ended up ordering a 50" (which measures a real 50" because it should be a lot easier to put on, but I will be keeping the 48" for my other horse who has a smaller torso. So I would suggest getting a Ordering a size up just because the elastic is so short/strong but in terms of quality and functionality this harness was fantastic.
