This security camera has the features I was looking for that are usually found in more expensive systems like motion detection in selected areas and push notifications to my phone. 1080p cameras with a 1TB hard drive and remote viewing for $200 are a great deal. The only downside I found was that the NVR didn't have a remote control so you had to click the mouse to change the selected camera. The installation was fairly easy, except that the cable was routed in the attic in a hard-to-reach place. As a technician, I was able to position the cameras optimally and fish a cable in the wall that led to my entertainment center. Anyone who isn't mechanically inclined should hire someone to run the cables unless you're showing cables or wall fishing. Setting up the cameras is very easy, just follow the on-screen setup wizard and you'll be done in 10 minutes. Tips: Weather The trunk that protects the ethernet connection to the camera is about 7/8 wide, which means you'll need a 7/8 bit or hole saw to run the cable up the attic or in the wall , unless the cable entry is greater than 12 inches from the camera. One of my cameras is 120 feet from the NVR, so I routed my own ethernet cable, removed the protective sleeve from the cable that came with it, and wrapped it over my cable before installing the connector. Works perfectly. One last tip: Having a second person makes the installation much easier. However, if you're doing it alone, install the app and use it to adjust the camera angle.
