These guys look exactly like the pictures. 13 inches below ground and a few above ground. It's almost impossible to pull them out once they're fully inserted. I had a hard time getting those last few inches out by putting them in hard clay mud, but that just tells me they're really reliable. None broke despite the large torque at the end. They're pretty thick steel and I doubt they'll ever corrode. On the beach, where the sand is much less dense, they'll probably be fine. Their longer length will really help compared to shorter bets. But they are pretty big for 16 inches.
