Review on RSVP Endurance Stainless Straws SIP 5CS by Jermaine Fleming

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It takes a little getting used to, but a great and stylish product!

I love using straws. I think this is a good invention for minimizing the mess when drinking from a cup. But no matter how hard I try, I always forget to save my used straws. I even went to the local grocery store to buy a large pack of these, but I think I bought the cheap brand because a lot of them had small cracks in the plastic. Anyone who has used straws before knows that any tear/hole in a straw renders it pretty much useless. A quick Google search for "cool straws" turned up stainless steel straws. I went to Revain.com, typed in the phrase "stainless steel straws" and got some results. I ended up choosing this particular one because I liked the fact that it had engravings that looked like straws that bend and curve at one end. All other SS straws on Revain were simply polished/curved metal tubes. I love aesthetically pleasing features. I've used these straws a number of times since getting them and can confirm they work as well (if not better than plastic straws). One of the things I miss is being able to chew on straws. It was my habit to use plastic and I would try to chew on it from time to time only to wince from the pain of chewing on a hard piece of metal. When drinking hot (or cold) drinks, the temperature of the drink flows through the straw and heats it up to the same temperature. If the liquid drips onto your lips it will feel cool and if it is a cold drink you will see frost forming on the outside of the straw. Cleaning is very easy. After using each straw, I simply dip it under hot tap water and let the water flow through it for a few seconds. The packaging says they are dishwasher safe, but for a thorough cleaning they can be scrubbed with a tube brush. For those wondering what they are, you can find them on your favorite store's kids' island as "spill-proof cup cleaners." It's essentially a spiral brush on a long piece of plastic or wire. Otherwise, I'm glad I own it. Not only do they look cool, they never go bad and you never have to throw them away. I am fashionable and environmentally conscious at the same time.
