Review on πŸ” Walker 53408 Intermediate Pipe for Exhaust System by Joe Gosa

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The tube is either short or the hanging rod is not installed correctly.

I replaced the exhaust pipe on my 2006 4x4 Z71 Avalanche from the end of the Y-pipe back with Walker exhaust products. Walker rubber mounts are nowhere near as good as the OEM mounts, they are longer and better at isolating noise and vibration. Either the intermediate pipe is short or the hanger bar is in the wrong place because the rubber hanger is not hanging straight (hanging forward) when this pipe is installed. The muffler can be short, and the hangers (2) of the exhaust pipe are also pushed forward. Otherwise, the silencer is well made and delivers the quiet sound I wanted. The exhaust pipe is also short because when it is fully inserted into the muffler outlet, the grommets are pushed forward enough that I needed a 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 3" extension or adapter "had to get it. to make everything work properly. Walker spends a lot of time on their website blowing a horn about how they make things to factory specs, my OEM pipes were 3" and the hanger bars were properly placed. You have a customer service phone number on the Website; Not sure when they think workers work with vehicles, it's open Monday through Friday during regular business hours. For people who don't use silencers all the time, the recording can be better identified. The muffler is marked with an arrow and the word "Input" next to it. You have to watch it to see how ambiguous it seems. I mean, does this mean the intake is the end it's pointing at, or does the arrow indicate the direction of exhaust flow? I would prefer if the arrow only points in the direction of the flow, that's easy to understand. There is some kind of forum on the Walker website. Look up how to identify a muffler pickup and you'll get ZERO results. Look for the general setup theory and you'll get NULL results. There should be instructions on site or in the packaging for identifying the inlet, synchronizing the muffler to the vehicle and safely inserting the pipe when using exhaust clamps. Thing is, I didn't have to guess how safe it was to insert the pipes when using the exhaust clamps, all pipes had to be fully inserted with no installation problems. I didn't have to buy an extension to hold all the hangers at 90 degrees when all the tubes were properly aligned.
