I used this to connect the input from my solar charge controller to my lead acid battery (car battery size). This way I can press the little red switch to turn off power from my battery to my charge controller when the solar panel is not connected. Why is the charge controller always on? It is easy to close the fuse to connect the charge controller to the battery. The only problem I had with installing it is that the holes in the base plate are so close to the fuse body that you can't get washers and nuts on the ends of the bolts if you have bolts going the other way, wall from Inside . If you put the washers and nuts on the inside of the wall and the screw heads on the base plate, you won't have this problem. Strip about half an inch of insulation from the ends of the wires, and they fit easily into the fuse, which is clamped in place with a heavy-duty screw. Big enough for appliance wire sizes, maybe up to 12 gauge.
