Review on Canon 100 400Mm 4 5 5 6L USM International by Gim Sohyeôn ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm very happy, it really is worth buying.

Bought to replace the old 400 / 5.6L. I don’t see any difference in the picture without looking into the metadata, but most likely the fixed shot would have been taken with a careful breath holding, searching for a stop or even from a tripod, and with a new zoom - just offhand, from the belly. The second reason for replacement is an increase. The new zoom can focus just point-blank, another manufacturer would stick the prefix "macro" to the name of the lens. A close-flying bird, large insects - now you don’t have to back away from all this and be afraid to scare. I was pleased with autofocus, although my old 5D2 is not a champion in itself in terms of autofocus, but the new zoom focuses noticeably faster than the old fix. A window in the lens hood for twisting the polarizing filter, adjusting the smoothness of the zoom - these are the little things, but it's conveniently very thoughtful and done. When folded, it is compact, with a screwed-on teleconverter, I no longer have to tamp the camera into a backpack. By the way, you can use autofocus with x1.4 (I have the second version with sealed contacts) - it focuses quite tolerably for more or less stationary objects.

Pros
  • Image quality, autofocus speed and accuracy, stabilizer efficiency, high magnification, workmanship, compactness, thoughtful little things.
Cons
  • on trifles, you can find fault with noticeable vignetting at the long end, well, or with the rapid consumption of batteries.
