Bought as a gift for my wife, she liked it. She loves the fact that she can adjust the angle at will and rotate what she calls the "little thing" up and down as needed. She uses it as a book, laptop, tablet and desk. She also uses it when she has a stack of references by the sofa while reading or watching the news. She says the only downside is that it can fit quite tight around the hips. It's not heavy by any means, but she likes to keep it close to her body when writing. From what I understand it says 17 inches between the legs.
