Wearing these earbuds for several hours resulted in hives on my ears and cheeks where the earbuds fit. The whole area became bright red, swollen, bumpy, itchy, throbbing, and hot with pain, and I developed a low-grade fever. Antihistamines and over-the-counter medications didn't help. I ended up needing a prescription for prednisolone from my doctor! The manufacturer says the ear cushions are made of foam and "protein skin," which I think is a fancy word for leather. I didn't have this reaction with any other artificial or genuine leather headphones. The ear pads smell strongly of chemicals. Perhaps they use toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process, such as leather dye. I really do not know it. This whole ordeal is a shame because these headphones are functionally almost identical to the $300 headphones my fiance has. The sound is great and the noise canceling is perfect. I bought some "headphone cases" and put two pairs on the ear pads to prevent it from happening again, but alas the hives are back. Whatever chemicals are used, they are too toxic. These return.
