Review on ๐Ÿ”ช DALSTRONG 8" Chef Cleaver Hybrid Knife - Shogun Series Crixus: Razor Sharp Meat Knife - Japanese AUS-10V Super Steel - with Sheath by John Talcott

Beautiful Knife is almost a GREAT knife

Let's talk aesthetics - It's one hell of a sexy looking knife - Dalstrong packs his knives well. You feel like you are buying a new car. It comes in a beautiful box, beautiful protective sleeve, Dalstrong safety pin and various use and care booklets. Quality. Big weight. This is not a lightweight knife and I didn't want a lightweight knife. - You can tell that a lot of attention was paid to the manufacture of this knife. - Comfortable grip - I sliced a large ribeye last night and it slid over it like nothing. .Why did I deduct a star? I am not a professional chef and I do not work in the kitchen. I'm a home cook but definitely above amateur level. However, I know my knife skills can be improved as bad moves can damage your knives, but I definitely don't have bad moves. This knife has lost its original sharpness after little use. I did the paper test right out of the box and it was easy. I could shave off thin strips of paper with ease. I also did the tomato test. The first time everything went with little resistance. After a few uses of certain veggies? couldn't anymore. When I say multiple, I literally mean multiple. When cutting paper, the paper tore in places, and an attempt at dough with tomatoes met with great resistance; It was like chasing a tomato on a cutting board, but if he caught a tomato I could cut it so-so. I sharpened it back to its original shape, but it shouldn't need sharpening anytime soon. In my opinion, no knife over $100 needs to be sharpened after two or three uses.
