Phenomenal for my opinion

I had high expectations going into this DAC. My first taste of high res was a mod for the wolfson DAC on an older samsung phone that opened up the potential of digital files. I later purchased a cirrus logic generic DAC, which for $30 I paid for it was not bad. Next up was a hifimediy Sabre DAC. I loved this one, gave me an appreciation for what the chip is capable of. It served me well many years until one day, it quit. I went back to the cirrus DAC, I was sorely disappointed. Enter D10. Man, wow. My first impression was disappointment because windows would not install the drivers, went to the Topping site and cannot get the drivers to download. Still haven't fixed this problem. Currently, plugged into a chromebook. Resamples everything to 44.1. Not even close to the potential of the device, but already I'm hearing a massive improvement over what the hifimediy could ever put out. Remarkable increase in bass response. Mid range has become more prominent, detail improved. High end is slightly tamed(running through 3 ways with planar tweeters, so high end is already accentuated). I'm hearing minor details in well produced recordings now I've never known were there. I can't believe the subtle instruments that were buried in the mix. I'm really hoping I can get the drivers working with windows so I can get back to playing through foobar.if you are considering, this is far and above the best value in a DAC I have ever seen. The performance is just wonderful.

Pros
  • The USB interface of this DAC ensures that it can be easily integrated into any digital audio system, making it a convenient and versatile option for all users
Cons
  • May take up additional space on user's desk or audio system rack
