First of all, as you probably guessed, this is a far cry from 50 watts per channel. With a 12V power supply and 8 ohm speakers, I measured just over 4 watts. That being said, this little amp is pretty decent for its size and price. Bluetooth only works up to a line of sight of about 15 feet, but the fact that it even has Bluetooth for this price negates the short range. It connects quickly and plays clearly when your phone is nearby. 4 watts doesn't sound like much, but it's fine for a pair of bookshelf speakers. The bass is really flat, but that's to be expected from such a small chip with no dynamic headroom. This amp is perfect for small projects that need a cheap sound. I have a couple of JBL bookshelf speakers on my patio and they do the job pretty well. Just don't expect 50 watts and you'll be fine.
