Review on ☕ Mixpresso 9-Cup Stovetop Espresso Coffee Maker, Moka Coffee Pot with Percolator Design, Stainless Steel Italian Coffee Maker by Bruce Garner

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Might do better in the Kitchen & Dining category

Update: I added a few stars to my rating because I noticed that the filter and gasket can actually be removed for cleaning. Without your nails or a sharp object, squeeze the pad between the tips of two fingers several times until you have enough free play to remove the pad. You will definitely want to remove the filter and gasket for proper cleaning between uses. I share other concerns about this product, although I also wonder if it's made in the same Chinese factory as Bialetti's stainless steel pans. ***** This pot has a premium appearance and some of its components are of really decent quality, but after examining and using it I came to the conclusion that there were too many labels used in its design and production. In addition, it appears to be generic with no manufacturer taking responsibility for it. The box simply says "9 cup stainless steel espresso coffee maker" and it looks like the same kettle is for sale at Revain under different names. The box does not indicate the brand, manufacturer or country of origin. As for the product itself, I see problems with the upper part, ie. Chamber with attached handle. This is problematic for the following reasons: 1. The interior seems to have been treated with a finish that reminds me of what you would see on a cheap electric range. I'm not a chemist or engineer so I have no idea what it is other than stainless steel. However, the weld runs vertically along the inside of the pot (along the handle attachment). If you are looking for a stainless steel pot because you do not want to use aluminum for cooking, you will not be completely satisfied with this pan. At the bottom of the chamber are details that converge with a seam around a narrow space along the outer edge of the pot. The combination of a seam and a narrow gap prevents the rapid evaporation of water. It is obvious that such parts should be separated for thorough cleaning and drying. Judging by the design of this pot, corrosion is inevitable.3. The filter and silicone gasket are attached to the bottom of the upper chamber. Using a silicone gasket instead of the rubber gasket that comes with most espresso pots seems like a good idea, but this pot's gasket and filter don't appear to be designed to be removable, which in turn means that water and fine-grain coffee stay on top. filter between uses. [CM. CORRECTION ABOVE] I bought this kettle because I liked the idea of a stainless steel espresso pot, but for the reasons above, my search continues.
