I bought this backpack for hiking and also for gravel biking. I already have a smaller hip pack that I use a lot when hiking, but I was curious how I'd like a larger one, so I gave it a try. The backpack itself holds quite a bit - easily fits any large phone, snacks, and I even fit a small bottle of Gatorade in one of the pockets. The middle pocket holds the included bottle of Podium Dirt and slides in and out super easily, even when strapped to your back. I really like that the Dirt series bottle has a cap that covers the spout of the bottle which is nice when you get out and kick up the dirt with your boots. it was just fantastic. Of course, the HUGE benefit of using a hip pack is that your upper back doesn't sweat like a backpack. I was concerned that this wrap might make my lower back sweat, but it's not at all (it was pretty hot though). Everyone sweats differently, but it didn't affect me. With a full water bottle, the backpack wobbles a little when you walk, and you have to tighten the straps quite a bit to make it feel secure. The snug fit adds a little warmth, but once you've downed about half a bottle you can loosen the straps a bit and the pack still feels secure. With a looser fit, it cools down a lot. Haven't tried it cycling yet but I'm pretty sure it will work great on days when I want to carry more than my packs and bindings can carry.
