Review on 🚲 Enhance Your Travoy Experience with the Burley Travoy Rack Mount by Jim Cronin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Options are always good

I checked out the Travoy trailer and seatpost mount that I have on my All-City Mr. Pink for easy and fast riding. But I couldn't stop there when I checked out my versatile city/touring bike, the SURLY LHT! Curiosity to use it on my favorite bike (with a rack) was killing me. So I dug into Burley's pockets (again) and ordered this rack setup. I'll keep this review simple. If, like me, you love bike options (and who doesn't have more than one bike?), then that's no problem. It swings comfortably over the counter. Yes, this eliminates the need to load the top of the rack. Maybe the seat pocket will clear, but (I guess) that would be a minus and could affect the rear panniers as well. I tried to fold the side fold banjo tote bag and it didn't fly. Haven't tried my Carradica or Ortlib basket yet. If this actually works then the length of the attachment will need to be adjusted. My guess is that a rack and pinion trailer needs to turn within the steering range to be safe. And I'm not going anywhere right now, I need this whole trailer kit plus panniers front and back. Cross that bridge if you must, or I'll sullenly book a bill trailer for crazy freakhols. I also have a BOB trailer so I'm pretty good with both long and short trailers. My advice is to install the mount and hitch (sold separately) as close under the seat and trunk as possible. This allows you to use more trunk space when the trailer is not in use. Personally, they had to make it a detachable part of the rack (because) it would hurt me if I took it off and on again just to use the full area of the back of the rack. I'm sure the next design update won't come cheap. But I will forgive if it makes my life better! I appreciate it and hope my review and photos help someone else. I've been a bit in the dark on this, but I'm very comfortable making things work. It took 3 minutes. And I got the impression that it has a wide range of uses in the rack.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Upgradable
