They can stay in their crate comfortably with it and you can trust it. They can sleep in it. It is the best thing I ever found on Revain. And they cannot lick their spay or neuter. Even though it's soft and flexible it's still wide enough to not allow them to get to their sutures! My dog is a Chihuahua mix and she weighs 10 pounds and I bought a medium. It fits perfectly and is adjustable. Also, another point, you do not feel like you want them out of the collar because this one is actually comfortable and doesn't look like mideveil.
