This stand is needed when the shifter cable runs through the C-pillar through the mounting slot. It is very easy to install. ...simply position the bottom bracket bracket so the raised stand is in the position you need for stowage. Then when you put the top plate on, just tilt it slightly so the cable goes through the hole. (See the photos I uploaded to illustrate the angle of the top plate.) The mechanism is solid; locks well when lifted and remains so without wobbling. After all, Greenfield Racks are MADE IN the USA. pretty reasonable This is the only brand of coasters I will buy.
