I bought this to have my Canon DSLR permanently on my desk as a high quality webcam for video recording and video calling at work. It's great for this, although at first I couldn't find a cover on the side of the camera that the cable runs through and it won't turn on the camera until the battery compartment is closed. So I tried putting something in the little button in the battery door to fool it, but I was finding it very frustrating to get started until I found this little rubber plug. Look closely if you're having trouble: I think most cameras should be capable of a product like this.
