My dad has nerve damage in his hands and often accidentally drops things - these mugs are great because he can put his hand in the handle and they're not too heavy. He also has an illness that limits his ability to swallow, so he only consumes liquids and they have to be quite hot for him to swallow. Due to the double insulation of the walls there is no risk of burning your hands on the outside (because it has very little sensitivity in the hands/fingers) when there is a very hot liquid inside. Those are almost the only cups he can use. The only thing we don't like is that they break easily - if they slide down the sink while washing, they can break quite easily and unexpectedly. But they're *glass*, that goes without saying, and I can't complain too much about that. We just buy a lot of these to have on hand. They work well for us, just wish they were that expensive!
