I love this backpack! It is ideally versatile for me and my cats. You can open the top flap down, mesh open, or fully open, you can open the side, and you can turn it into a small play tent (the tent folds into the back of a backpack but doesn't feel bulky. It has a door with a zipper). The strap that attaches to my cat's harness is sewn in for extra durability. (One of my cats tried to jump out when I had the hood open and the harness supported her weight until I could undo the straps and put her back in. So strong!) I love that I don't have to choose between a chest. Harness and waist belt for me because it comes with both. The window is nice and big so my cat can look around without sitting down. I chose a fabric bag specifically for its breathability, but the sides, back and bottom are so resistant that I don't feel like I'm missing anything. Easy flat storage is a bonus. Seriously I don't think I will ever get another backpack because this one is perfect.
