Review on 🚲 Retro 1999 BMX Brake Set & Lever: Perfect Vintage Upgrade for BMX Enthusiasts by John Banks

I bought this because I installed it on the back of my kids bike and I was impressed. I installed the front end on my Mongoose Legion L100 because the stock rear brake wouldn't stop me going down a hill. I live around many hills. I didn't use the included lever as traditionally the front brake lever is on the left side. I bought a left/right set of Black Ops levers for this. The pads that come with the calipers are not the same as in the picture, they are much nicer. Overall they are easy to install and very effective in stopping me. My only concern is that the entire caliper gives a lot when stopping. I can see that the entire caliper appears to be pulled forward when I apply the brake. I don't think this is typical of this type of brake and I'm not sure if it's possible to stiffen and prevent it. I've tried tightening the bolt but you can't dig it in because the calipers will then stick to the rim and stop bouncing. Overall I'm happy, but I'm concerned about the movement under braking. Only time will tell if they can withstand my violence. Very happy at the moment. Looks good, easy to assemble and effective at stopping.
