Best Keep for Me in the Small Appliances category

We bought this as a gift for our grandkids when we visit them next month. I wanted to make sure it worked so I used it. I've just ordered another one because I'm keeping this one for myself :) I only used it to make the vanilla ice cream base recipe that's in the brochure, so I can't respond to reviews that say it is broke after a few uses. ; that's why I only gave 4 stars. My bowls are in the freezer for the second time. I will reevaluate in a few months. However, I can fault the texture. After the first 1/2 portion was ready it took about 12 minutes, I beat the rest of the mixture with an electric mixer for about 3 minutes. The second batch had a much creamier texture. But it made a little more volume, so I had more than 2 bowls for the recipe to make. More for me to enjoy! I think my freezer is just what I need. because it didn't get too stiff and pushed the paddle out and according to the instructions I had to leave it alone for a few minutes to harden it a bit more before removing the motor/paddle. The first batch was a little sloppy so I closed the lid again and waited 2 minutes. There are a few reviews that say they have to let the bowl sit for a few minutes before adding the mixture to solve the issue of the paddle being too cold or popping out. This is fairly easy to fix and is not a product issue. I'm going to try yogurt tonight and then orange sorbet. I will keep you up-to-date. I wish the bowls had lids so I don't have to transfer them to another container to put in the freezer. The instructions REALLY recommend putting it in a ziplock plastic bag. I agree with the reviewer who said you don't want to eat out of a bowl; too cold for hands and the spoon may scratch the bowl.
