I chose one of these HYS antennas for an SDR radio I was working on. The size is large and easily fits in my pocket. Reception was good for what I needed it for, basic FM and the like. I have no way of testing beyond the absolute basics, but the stats are on the box. Sorry, I'm not a ham radio operator yet, so I can't test the transmission. The design seems fine, the lower part of the body is metal, the antenna bends a little and has a coating, and there is a plastic cap at the end. When folded, it is about 8 inches long and 2.5 inches wide at the hinge. Fully unfolding the antenna is easy: you need to move the metal sleeve up a bit and fold the antenna twice at the joints. When it's all the way up, lower the collar over the ankles to lock it. Aesthetically it looks fantastic on my radio, only complaint is mine was a bit bent in transit. the antenna rods have just enough bend to sit crooked, which doesn't bother me but annoys me to no end. From 144 to 430MHz this antenna seems to work well for reception but the shipping packaging could be a little better.
