My LO cut her first tooth at 4 months old. We didn't use toothpaste at first as she hadn't eaten yet (not prescribed by the doctor, just as a precaution). We simply wet the finger brush and rubbed it over the gums and teeth. Then she got a second tooth and started eating at about 5 months. The toothpaste (I tried) is nice and sweet but nothing special. We brush her teeth morning and night and she is holding up very well (she is now 7 months old). With the finger brush you can clean all the gums and around your teeth pretty well. We also have a children's toothbrush, but now I prefer it, especially at night when I'm in the dark, as it's easier to use.
