While the build quality may seem a little below average compared to the last attempt at remote media access, this remote is at least serviceable. The original version of the stick from a few years ago still works perfectly, but it looks cheap and is cluttered with useless buttons. The cloud remote allows you to control the TV (sound, power, input) which the last media remote could not. I have 3 complaints about the new cloud remote: 1) There is no stop button, only pause. Most of us use PS4 to view other things from sources other than Vue. The stop button is useful and absent here. 2) The round buttons at the top edge of the remote control seem awkward at first glance. Finding directional arrows versus accidentally pressing a PS4 shape button like a circle is a common one at first. You get used to the layout after a while, but this one could be done better. 3) As with all remote PDPs, the build quality leaves a lot to be desired. To be honest I can't understand why Sony keeps calling these guys the ONLY manufacturer of official PS4 remotes. Can you imagine if Samsung or LG did this on a flagship TV? unthinkable. But here we are. The rest of the remote control is too small and not durable enough. If you have leather furniture, it slides straight from the armrest into the cushions. Overall, while not perfect, this is the best attempt yet at a proper TV remote to control media on PS4. Psst Sony, PLEASE create your own PS5 remotes!
