I bought 10" Hanes jersey shorts (grey) and 11" Hanes Bermuda cotton shorts (navy blue). I was pleasantly surprised at the length of the two. I ordered both sizes XL (size 16-18) even though I'm 5'10" and a size 12/14 based on some other reviews. I'm returning jersey shorts, not even to buy a different size. The fabric is too light and slightly lifts the legs when walking and creates an unfortunate camel toe (although they are large. I attribute this to the material used as other shorts do not. As both shorts are large, I would suggest taking your normal size and not going up unless you like very roomy shorts.
