Review on Monosaudio Turntable Stabilizer Leveling Vibration by Amy Thompson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems to work in turntables

I just got a new turntable from Revain Vine and they offered me this Monosaudio LP Record Weight turntable turntable stabilizer at the same time so I thought I'd give it a try. The idea is that the weight is placed on the record as it spins on the platter. This should stabilize the record, smooth out any wobble or distortion, and improve the sound of the old record. The product page says it weighs 320 grams or 11.3 ounces. However, the packaging clearly states that it weighs 280 grams. According to my kitchen scale, it actually weighs 11.3 ounces, so I guess that takes care of it. I tested it on my old vinyl which I knew was warped and therefore wobbly. It definitely sounded better with the weight on it. I actually heard the difference, but I consider myself an audiophile. On the product page there is a confusing statement "with bubble alignment to compensate for vibration". I have absolutely no idea what that means, but there is a small "window" on the top of the device with a clear liquid inside. There is a bubble in the liquid. However, I don't fully understand the purpose, function, or effectiveness of this feature. Also, I was a bit nervous about the effect this weight had on the platter, but it didn't seem to hurt the platter. watched a few videos on the effectiveness of record weights and they all say they can and do make a difference, especially if your record is warped. Having some old distorted vinyl records I figured this would be a good buy. Also, I've found that record weight is the low end of the average record weight price, so that's a good thing. Weight is weight so I don't see how spending a lot on a record weight can make a big difference. One of the informational videos I watched said you can pay up to two hundred dollars for a record weight. That's a lot of money for a product I've never heard of until I ordered it. Overall I like this product because it changed the sound of my distorted vinyl records. Therefore I recommend it. I considered giving it five stars, but didn't like the confusing claim that it has "Bubble Alignment to Balance Vibration". I am very disgusted with the English language, which is more perverted than any of my records. But I give it four stars because it works.
