I trudged through Antarctica with them on my last southern voyage - and wasn't at all friendly to them. They worked flawlessly for weeks in temperatures that typically dropped below minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit. They survived climbing jagged pressed ice, long frozen metal ladders, ascending and descending heavy equipment, even "my legs are like jelly, I can't stop it" brushing with sharp crampons.
