Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Giro Source MIPS Adult Off-road Helmet by Alex Barr

Full protection for commuting

I ride 2,000 miles a year on city streets and decided it was time for a helmet that offered more protection and a helmet with MIPS. After all, what price would you ask for your own bucket of brains? I have had several Giro helmets and love the design. I chose these because they offer extra protection around the temples as well as a lot more protection at the back of the head. There is also a strap that attaches securely to the head. (I looked at another brand that had a ponytail at the back - an unacceptable compromise in coverage for me, at least!) I usually wear a L or XL beanie. The standard size in this helmet fits well, but there is not enough room for a winter hat. So I grew up. It sits on my head, just above my eyebrows. It looks a little strange but doesn't affect the view. And the forehead pad pretty effectively stops the sweat in my eyes! It holds very securely: the shell can slip off, the pendant cannot (MIPS). The rear ratchet is very easy to adjust. I like that the longer visor keeps the sun out while commuting. Since I've never worn sunglasses before, I don't need the visor up. But the Bike Peddler's rear-view mirror still works. Just make sure you keep the visor in place or the mirror will move!
