A compact, well-built scope at a great price, but with one major downside.

I really like my new scope so far. I'm pretty picky when it comes to gear of any type and I'm always looking for something that feels well built and durable like Roxant. things I particularly like; attached rubber lens caps, the focus ring is large, solid and perfectly positioned on the body if you are used to using an SLR lens like I am. The built in lens hood is smart and I didn't even notice it until I checked the manual, so that was a bonus. The optics are quite bright and the focus is sharp. I'm not sure how long I'll be using the small tabletop tripod, I think it's for people who use it for target shooting. I'm planning to use it for wildlife photography and I already have a full size tripod which is better for setting up. The only thing I can foresee that will give me problems is getting the object at all, the magnification is 12-36x, so the magnification factor is 3x. Depending on the distance, it can be difficult to see something at 12x magnification without an alignment aid. I'm going on a trip to some national parks in a week so I'll have a better idea if this is a problem or not when I get back. . I've used my scope a few times and while everything I said was true, I found one major problem (at least with the device I have). When using the device with a tripod, I found that I couldn't get a clear view of the subject when adjusting the focus, especially when zooming in. The problem is that the tripod mount (see picture) is not firmly attached to the rest of the scope. which introduces some flexing both horizontally and vertically when adjusting the focus ring. While the curvature is only 1-2mm, it's enough for an object like a bird to disappear when you try to focus (or to a lesser extent zoom in) because it's moving away from the target. The larger the scale, the worse the problem. You can eventually focus it on the object you want by trial and error, but that's a lot harder than it should be. Considering that using the 12-36 X scope requires a tripod, that's a pretty significant downside. . I could try removing the rubber pad on the bottom as I was expecting to find some screws there to tighten, but I could also make things worse.
