The packaging clearly states that the product is 'Made in China' but shipped from a US warehouse. The item was well packed in foam. I ordered this kettle based on the good reviews and the fact that it is mostly glass and stainless steel and the plastic parts do not come into contact with water/tea. The only plastic parts are the outer lid (stainless steel inner lid) and the handle. It doesn't smell like plastic. The lid has a rubber seal and snaps firmly into place when turned clockwise. water boils quickly; The maximum water level is about half the mark on the carafe. If you want to switch off the kettle with the on/off button, you have to press it for a few seconds before it switches off. I like to brew chamomile tea from loose leaves and petals, and the small holes in the tea infuser only let in a few tiny particles, hardly worth mentioning, even with a very thin cloth bag. The only thing I don't like so much: the fact is that the sound signal that is supposed to signal the boiling of the water is so weak that I can hardly hear it even when I'm standing close to the counter. Overall I am very happy with this kettle.
