Large Wide Angle: Camera & Photo

My first review on Revain.com! So, getting down to business, is this lens any good? Was it worth the money? The short answer is yes! As this lens is very expensive compared to 3rd party lenses (Tamron, Sigma etc) it should be excellent, 5 stars and it is. I use it with Nikon D300, Photoshop Elements 7 and Epson Stylus inkjet printers. With a full 12-24mm zoom range, I couldn't be happier in terms of resolution, color and contrast. I like f/4 as I try not to use flash. There are other reviewers who talk about color fringing or distortion. I'm sure they know what they're talking about, but I just don't see it in my photos. I have to say that 12mm (what is the equivalent of 18mm 35mm film?) is a whole new world! I have fun! If you've been shooting on film and waiting for digital technology to catch up, I think it's finally here. With a smaller format image sensor, Nikon had to come up with a whole new range of lenses and I think they're excellent. I believe we are in a new golden age of optics. I never thought that such a wide angle could be so distortion-free. When I started with 35mm photography the reviews said that with a 50mm lens it was a pincushion! Can you believe it? Here's the 12mm ZOOM and I really don't see any noticeable distortion, let alone something as obvious as a pincushion! So if you can afford it, Nikon is worth every penny (and thanks for Revain's great price!), but if you can, there are no other less expensive options with great features to suit your needs, wherever you are can be just as creative! Enjoy!
