There were a lot of old HDDs and SSDs from laptops that were upgraded or taken out for security reasons that just got dusty instead of being used for something useful. This dock was just the thing to use them. I've populated all four bays with drives of various types and capacities and they all work great. I connected a dock with ReadyShare to a USB 3 port on my Netgear router for a poor man's NAS. I connected all drives to windows 10 and they are always online and ready to use. Since it's already on my network, I can also access it with my phone and smart TV to watch movies that I store on one of the drives. I can also use it as a backup drive for my computers. The only thing that bothers me is that the fan isn't very quiet when it's on. While it's nice to be able to turn the fan on and off with a button on the front of the unit, I find it smart to simply remove the fan cover from the unit and instead let the drives radiate heat into the air. The only problem with this variant is that it has 4 bare hard drives sticking out of it and it doesn't look nice when covered with fans.
