This is a good DVD player but if you expect it to play HD DVD it won't. This is one of the reasons I got it. The wording in the description is very misleading, unintentionally, but nonetheless. Otherwise it does what a DVD player is supposed to do, but the beauty of it is the variety of formats it plays. I have a lot of MPEG-4 files that won't play on all my devices, but it works. The HD upscaling is nice too, making the picture a bit clearer. All the possibilities of the region make this purchase worthwhile. I can play non-US discs, so I'm no longer limited in my choice of DVDs.
