I used to buy them individually at Wal-Mart for $2.34 each fully assembled. Then I started buying an 8 pack for about $12 where you get a frame, carbon and filter and you have to assemble them yourself. When they reduced the number of filters to 6 ($2.34 each), I checked out this offer on Revain. They've only increased the price by a few dollars, but even at $26.92 (up from about $23), the cost is $1.12 each. i can't win You should receive two boxes of twelve in your order. Like 2 other reviewers, I was missing a box from my original order. When I complained to Revain they simply refunded my payment in full even though I said I only wanted half the money back. I placed a second order believing that if I lost again we would be even but this time I received a full order so I believe they had a stock issue which has been resolved. Cool! I have a 75 gallon aquarium with 11 large goldfish that I filled my outdoor pond with so they last about a week. I rinse them out and reuse them once, but I don't even recommend doing this twice as activated charcoal is nearing the end of its lifespan. My point is that you don't want to keep cleaning them. Conclusion: this is the cheapest option, the quality is good and it is not difficult to assemble. I'm doing a whole box during a series of TV commercials and I've got a month.
