So far so good - make sure you get the updated model

. Love the idea of having an 850 watt SFX PSU for my ITX builds. However, I have due to complaints about the 15% fan's semi-fanless curve leading to wild vibrations and noise (e.g. very light loads). Luckily, I finally bought the V850 after hearing that Cooler Master had revised their SFX line of power supplies to fix this erratic behavior. I was still a bit worried that I would get a pre-revision ban. Thanks to Machines & More on Youtube (see video titled "Upgrade fan? Cooler Master SFX Power Supply Revision 2021") I knew I had an updated model. How to tell if you have the new version: 1) The packaging should say "100% Japanese Capacitors" (instead of "15% Fanless"). 2) On the package, the picture should show a smooth fan rotation curve. (instead of a 15% reduction curve). 3) A removable sticker on the device should say "The fan will not spin until a certain internal temperature is reached" (instead of "The fan will not spin when the load is below 15%). "). Overall, it's still not the quietest SFX PSU under load (at least compared to SFX-L PSUs with larger 120mm fans). But at $145, that's a very good price for an 850w gold SFX power supply, hence 5 stars, hopefully it lasts a long time.

Pros
  • . Practical item
Cons
  • . Cable is shorter than other models.
