Review on Lume Cube 2 0 Professional Photography by Gregory Plump

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The macro should be in Lighting & Studio

First of all I love these lume cubes. The brightness is decent. The size is good. Battery life is decent. Accessories are useful. The carrying case and how everything fits in is impressive. The magnetic attachment system is simple. Versatility is great, especially in wet conditions. Portability is impressive. Charging is easy. The build quality is strong. Price. All in all it's quite high and I deducted 2 stars in the value for money category. I scratched my head at the advantages of these flashlights over two small $36 Cree XP-L flashlights. These lume cubes are sold individually and cost about $90 each. about $45. At this price I would give 5 stars if it came with two metal tripods similar to the Feiyutech tripods you see in my photo. (minus 1 star) The Pro Bundle is now a whopping $300! (minus the second star) Anyway, I don't think the pro kit costs more than $200. If it came with the tripods I mentioned then I think $225-$250 would be reasonable. $300 is prohibitively expensive. The main benefit of these lights over Cree lights is that you can run them for continuous use when plugged in, as the smaller size and shape is a bit easier to manage and the lights aren't as easy to install or position. if you're doing mushroom macro or bugs, and maybe a color spectrum, although this can easily be adjusted in-camera. However, the benefit of being connected to the mains only helps when you are near a power source and not in the field. Would I buy this again? NOT at new price. Can I recommend it to a friend? NOT at new price. Hope this review helps, thanks from Chicago
