Review on HYS Gooseneck 11 8 Inch Fiberglass BNC by Rafael Lewis

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the antenna. It was packaged in a HYS plastic/vinyl "sleeve". I bought the BNC version for my Icom V-86. It fits well with very little play. A gentle squeeze with soft-lined pliers gets the job done quickly. I don't have the opportunity to test it on a dyno, but I can query the same 2m and VHF LMR repeaters as with the factory Icom antenna. It seems to pick up two NWS stations a little better than the factory antenna. I will do more tests in the next few days. The gooseneck is stiff as it should be, but it flexes and holds its shape. And yes, it looks good and has a nice military/tactical look. So far, so good.
