Feature-Packed Compact Camera

One thing that's quite difficult is choosing an inexpensive security camera that has the features you're interested in and, for most, something that's not overly so is difficult to set up. I've tried 6 different brands of mini dome cameras on the Revain in the same price range +/- $15 and I feel this one has a nice solid set of features for the size and price range. I have a dozen cameras installed on my property, some fixed, some PTZ, some WIFI, some wired ethernet POE, even a WIFI solar panel that I put on a tripod where I can mount it anywhere in the garden in seconds, when whenever i want . to add extra security to the area. Not only do I try to protect my property from humanoid invaders, but also coyotes, bobcats, and sometimes mountain lions, whose main meals are neighborhood pets like dogs and cats, but they're usually content with wild rabbits. Key features of this camera include: - 5 megapixel video recording in h.265 format too (supports h.264 basic/main profile) - SD card slot (up to 128 GB) - Full PTZ (pan: 0-355 , Tilt : 0-90 and Zoom: 1x-5x) - Can be used indoors and outdoors - ONVIF compliant (tested on Blue IRIS, TinyCam, VLC and OBS) - OBS compliant (more stable on wired Ethernet) - P2P support -Protocol with assigned UID and compatible with CamHi/CamHiPro APP. - Microphone / speaker - antenna is detachable, easy to remove, simple. Expandable Another useful feature of this camera is Smart Tracking. When this feature is on and a person comes into view, the camera will attempt to track the person automatically. This works well when walking or doing slower movements. Not exactly for tracking a walking or running person. The only missing feature is POE support, but that's easily fixed with a POE splitter, which you can buy for $8. Watch my video on using a POE splitter. I tested the camera with the recommended app CamHiPro, which communicates with the camera via the camera's UID via P2P, making it very easy and fast to connect to your network in just a few seconds (see my video). I also tried the camera on Blue IRIS, TinyCam (for Android), VLC and OBS and OBS with the VLC YouTube streaming plugin. I think the CamHiPro app is pretty good, even very good, compared to other third-party security camera apps. drowns out most of the noise it picks up. Thanks to its compact design, the microphone, along with the wiring, picks up more electrical noise than larger cameras. I think there is room for improvement in this camera's microphone design. The camera can only be fully configured via the camera's web interface. After using the CamHiPro built-in camera application, find the IP address in this application and connect to it via a browser. In the web interface you can configure certain video, image, sound and alarm settings that are not available in the app. For some settings, especially on the video side, there are many configurations that are not supported, and when you save settings, they just aren't saved. The only way I've found to get the optimal settings for what you want is to experiment with a disc. For example, OBS performs much better with H.264 base profile, CBR, keyframe=2 and maximum frame rate. To get these settings I had to turn off the second stream to the worst settings, which I don't mind much since I don't normally use the second stream. continuous feeding for 36 hours and at other times less than an hour. The CamHiPro application will automatically restore itself almost immediately and sometimes just return to the main camera selection page. OBS and VLC don't like interrupted streams and you have to restart them. But there are many factors that can make WiFi unreliable. My tests were conducted with a WiFi signal through an outside wall and 100 feet from home. With this setting I have 90% signal. I think all WIFI cameras will come across this and the best thing for a reliable continuous stream feed is to use wired ethernet which is available on this camera. For installation, the mounting plate is suitable for installation in an area that can be used with the supplied wall plugs. When installing in a joist, it is best if the joist is at least 2 inches wide. If something is narrower, such as For example, a typical 2x4 that is only 1.5" wide at the edge, you will need to drill a few new holes in the mounting plate in a very specific location. . The mounting plate is made of plastic and is slightly flexible. Overall I think the plate could be improved to add more mounting options. I hope this review helps you decide. Thank you for reading!
