It fits my 16 lb dog but it seems quite uncomfortable and when the zipper is unzipped it can easily escape. The backpack is quite comfortable considering how heavy my dog is, but I think it would be significantly better if it was wide horizontally rather than tall. I've seen a few of these (unfortunately not available on Prime) where they look like padded kennels with straps and can be carried around or worn as a backpack. So the dog can lie down if he wants. The materials are durable and the straps are quite thickly padded. The grid that dogs can see through is likely to be damaged if my dog keeps scratching it, but I can't think of a grid on the floor that would hold up. The Sherpa feel at the bottom of the bag is a nice touch, and combined with the structure of the bag itself, the bag really does hold its shape (no sagging at the bottom or sides) when my dog is in it. Either way, it works great for short distances or travel. I think it would be fine for longer trips with very small dogs - my Chihuahuas could lie down and cool off but my Frenchie can't and I bought this for a Frenchie. I use this to take her to the hairdresser's or to a friend's house when I'm not driving, but I never enjoy taking her for long walks because she can't lie down.
