I bought this a few years ago to store beans for my RV but brought it home because I love it so much! I've seen reviewers complain that it's light or that the lid doesn't fit snugly. The lid is only there to keep things out and make it stackable. The hermetic seal goes inside. The fact that it comes in two parts is nothing to worry about. I store whole beans in it, but it also holds the soil well. If you are using whole beans it is much better to use large beans as small ones are quite small. You should leave some room for the airtight seal and still leave room for the outer cover. Sounds complicated, but it is not. I mean it's been all this time and I'm just starting to order the larger size I need!
