I needed a 4" cable to connect my Raspberry Pi to a miniature instant control switch so I could reset the Pi out of the box without unplugging the power cord. I put 2 pins on the Pi's reset pins and wanted to cut off the ends on the other side to solder the switch. They turned out to fit the thicker switch contacts so I didn't have to use a soldering iron and it saves time as I have to make quite a few of these. I have many other uses for them as well, including peripherals that use the I2C interface for the Pi and Arduino. Anyway, I like to have 4" and 8" in my jumper box because I never know when I'll need a few, and I like that I can easily get a bunch of the amount of wire I need , take it off and you can use it in seconds.
