I am really impressed with these lights. As a family of 5 we fight between colored and white Christmas lights. Everyone loves the ability to toggle between white and color. I used double sided tape to attach the receiver to the wall, I was able to stand about 5ft away and use the remote. For an 8 foot tree you will need at least 3 light boxes. My reasons for the 4 star rating was that I didn't know they were icicles - I could still thread them to a tree, but it was a bit more difficult. Secondly there are no instructions so read the reviews as if you are only using 1 remote when connecting multiple string lights. I don't feel the heat from these lights, so I feel safer next to a real tree. I plan to buy more in the future, great product. We've been using it for about 2 weeks with no problems.
