Below is my first review and I'll leave it there so people can learn from my mistake. I ordered a second monitor like this because I thought it must be defective. I was wrong. When I opened this new one before unpacking and setting everything up, I wanted to test it out first, so I just pulled the monitor out of the box with the power supply included. The same thing happened with the previous model with my displayport cable which was brand new, the other day I tried the cable which I thought was defective. I then tried the DP cable that was in the box and then the HDMI cable. No difference. Check out the photos to see what I'm talking about. The weak one is the LG 27GL850-B and the bright one is the ASUS PB278Q. I figured it was very unlikely to damage two monitors in a row, so I decided to go through the menu again to see if I missed something on the first one. I came across the Displayport version. It was set to 1.4 so I thought let me see if that changes anything, just anything, anything, and I changed it to 1.2 and bam, nice vibrant colors. I changed it to 1.1 but there was no difference between that and 1.2 so I reverted it to 1.2 because I remembered my MSI GTX-1060 mentioned something about Display Port 1.2 somewhere. Tech support emailed me back when I sent them my complaint but nothing was mentioned about checking the DP version. I replied to LG's email and informed them of my big mistake, but in my defense someone should have told me to check it out, even if it's not in a quick start guide or manual, but at least one Technical support email. In any case, this monitor is as bright as my five-year-old ASUS PB278Q, and it's not even set to maximum brightness. I'm happy and plan on ordering another one so I have two of these and will keep my ASUS for backup and possibly for my laptop. OLD REVIEW: Colors are muddy at best and far from 'color calibrated', unrelated to LG's 'wide color gamut' claims. The black is dark gray at best if I set it light enough to see. The images this monitor displays doesn't even come close to the ASUS it replaced. I even tried adjusting the colors in the Nvidia Control Panel to no avail. Finally, this monitor is not bright at all. This has to be the darkest monitor I have ever used in my 26 years of working with computers. This is not a $300 monitor. I wouldn't pay $100 for that. So it's coming back.
