Review on ๐Ÿ’ฝ Transcend 64GB MSA370 mSATA Solid State Drive SATA III 6Gb/s (TS64GMSA370) by John Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is the solution for classic cars.

The drive was installed in an 11 year old Thinkpad T41 equipped with a PATA tray for mSATA [vv why did the 11 year old Hibachi DeskStar [DeathStar] drive crash; and it's definitely better than using a SanDisk 64GB micro flash drive to download]. This is 60% cheaper than today's higher performance mSATA drive. With the Caddy, it cost $62 to replace the original, still working, mechanical drive; Easeus DiskCopy works great and is free. However, make sure to disable the Chinese hacking software that DiskCopy will leave behind. Debian Jessie is both happy and nimble on the new drive, I have a 14 inch 1280-960 screen and enough space to take and store thousands of photomicrographs. This drive is not designed for high performance. However, the performance of the drive far exceeds the maximum write speed of the old laptop's IDE bus. Transcend uses a Samsung controller with Micron's MLC, so I hope the drive can be used for a few more years.
